Fresh 48 Session- What it is and why it's worth it- Everett Washington Newborn Photographer10/12/2024 Do you remember the days when a photographer was at the hospital to take your baby's first photo before going home? (Unless of course you delivered on a weekend that is then you were sol) lol! Well in most hospitals these days those little "sessions" have mostly become obsolete. Thus “Fresh 48” sessions were born (pun intended) These sessions have essentially become the new and VERY improved "hospital photo". Fresh 48 sessions take place within the first 48 hours after a baby is born, while you and your baby is still in the hospital or birthing center. You pick the photographer with the artistic style that speaks to you. Keeping your photographer informed as labor and delivery approaches. Together you will choose a time that works best. As a motherhood photographer fresh 48's are one of my favorite sessions! The beauty of fresh 48 sessions is that they capture all the newness of your fresh little babe you don't want to forget. As well as the love + joy you have for this incredible new little being. These sessions are raw & natural with minimal posing, capturing details of your baby such as their tiny fingers, toes, mouth ears, etc. Making them a beautiful way to remember all the little details of your Newborn. Kimberly and I had already done an amazing Maternity session, but when she messaged me her vision of another session on the beach & in the water with a beautiful handcrafted fern headpiece she would make herself I was ecstatic! We set the date but unfortunately due to sickness we had to reschedule, which a week later put us that much closer to her due date. We chatted via IG the morning of around 10 am talking about the ever changing weather in the pnw and a plan to move forward even in the rain. At 4:24 I received another message, one that shocked me! I couldn't believe what I read, "ummmm..... soooo my husband is freaking out because he thinks my water just broke" I couldn't believe what I read. Birth truly is so unpredictable. My initial response was excitement, soon she would be meeting her baby. Then I thought oh darn, what a bummer we won't have the chance to bring her idea to life. We chatted a bit more and after taking inventory of the situation and talking to her doctor's office with no other symptoms of labor and knowing we had time Kimberly Decided to go for it! Knowing this would be the last chance to make her vision come to life! I was amazed at her tenacity. We moved up the session time, I grabbed my gear & raced out the door. About 40 minutes later we were on the beach creating her vision. Now she can always look back on these images knowing she has a crazy story behind it she can share and I am so thankful to be apart of it.
